The Warmachine Two-Player Battle Box comes with everything you need to play Warmachine: quick-start rules, 17 miniatures, an introduction to the world and even a full rule book.
There are also four six-sided dice, a flexible ruler, and an issue of the publication No Quarter.
You command an army of warjacks and infantry units using your warcaster. If you can kill you opponent’s warcaster you win.
I kept the description above short as Warmachine is a fairly complex war game. I have never played the game before but have always thought it looked cool. The quick-start rules are well written and allow you to jump right into the action. If you think you might be interested in the system I suggest you download the quick-start rules near the bottom of this page.
The components and art work on the Warmachine Two-Player Battle Box is awesome. Everything is designed and written well and it simply looks fantastic.
The full rules can be a bit overwhelming, but after several games you get a handle on them and refer to the rule book less. That said the index in the back makes it easy to find the things you are looking for.
Some things to be aware of you must build the models and (if you like) paint the models. They do not come preassembled. Also there is no terrain included. There are templates for a hill and forest that you may photocopy. These templates help but I wish some suggested map layouts were in the guide.
Having never played the Warmachine system before I can definitely say the Two-Player Battle Box helps get you started and involved. The two included armies are Khador and Menoth and are very well-balanced. Each plays differently and has its own strengths and weaknesses.
If you have thought about trying Warmachine out the then you should absolutely pick up the Warmachine Two-Player Battle Box. The value in the box is amazing and the system is fun. Existing players may be interested in the included units and the travel-sized full rulebook. You may even just be looking for a fun war game and I suggest you look into this. You could simply buy this one box and have all you need to enjoy many battles against your friends.

Warmachine is a fun system and isn’t that complex really. It doesn’t involve tons of dice rolling and you can get some fun Magic the Gathering style combos going with the Warcasters spells and Warjack’s abilities.
I did a tournament report here: http://boardgamereviews.wordpress.com/2011/11/16/carnage-in-the-iron-kingdoms/
It was an evening of mayhem!
This looks like it was a blast! I guess Warmachine’s system isn’t too complex. It is just a lot to digest at once. After you learn it it come pretty natural like DnD or Heroclix. There is just a good bit to remember (charging adds 3″ etc…). Maybe saying there is a learning curve and a good bit to remember is a more accurate. Either way I think it is worth trying out cause I like the engine.
