Legacy is the third expansion for the VS 2PCG series. It adds new characters, plot twists and main characters for every released faction.
If you have played the VS 2PCG then read on. New comers might want to read my review and overview of the game here. This post is going to focus on the new cards introduced in the Legacy expansion.
The biggest change the Legacy expansion brings to the game is level 3 main characters. Each faction gets a new main character and an update to one of their original main characters. The update gives you a new level 2 main that has the ability to get to level 3. Groot, Spider-man, Wolverine, Green Goblin, Daredevil, Kingpin, She-Hulk and Mystique all have the ability to get to level 3.
Loyalty is a new keyword on some plot twists. It requires you have just one faction in your entire deck including your main character.
I am just going to highlight some of my favorite characters and their abilities from the Legacy expansion.
Charlie-27 is a one-drop Guardians supporting character with a 1/1 and three health. He jumps to a 27/27 when you use a might resource.
Falcon is a 1/4 one-drop mobile Avenger with flight. As a sidekick he also adds a +1/+1 counter to every character he team attacks with.
Havok is a five-drop, 5/6 supporting character for the X-Men with range. He can use three Energy resources to stun all supporting characters excluding himself and Cyclops.
Thanos is a reprint of the main character from the base game. He is not as powerful but has not been totally nerfed. Now he only gains XP when an enemy character is KOed and now his opponent only discards one card when he uses the Infinity Gauntlet not their entire hand.
White Tiger is a 3/3 two-drop for the Defenders with two health. She gains leap, ferocious and lethal abilities when she has one, two or three +1/+1 counters on her respectively.
Leader and his big-brain are helping the Underworld faction. He is a 2/4 2-drop with range and his leadership ability nerfs all other characters’ leader ability. Massive brain lets you spend an Intellect resource to draw cards until your hand is as large as another player’s.
Spider-Gwen is a new four-drop character for A-Force. She has a 4/7 stat line with dodge and can be recruited from your deck.
Hela, a five-drop for the Femme Fatales, is a 5/5 with range and two health. If all enemy characters are stunned you can use a might resource to put five +1/+1 counters on her.
If you are interested in seeing more cards from the Legacy expansion, hit up google and read more about them.
Legacy adds something for every VS 2PCG faction and makes some of the weaker main characters better. It helps balance out Thanos and adds more deck building options.
As in previous expansions, the cards in this set look good and are durable. The rules are organized and easy to follow and understand too.
There are some great cards in this expansion and I really like the level 3 main characters. None of them seems overpowered (and I have made decks for four of them). And the added level makes some of them a lot more playable.
The Loyalty keyword might force you to build a single faction deck but some of the plot twists are worth it. I am glad Upperdeck continues to try to make themed decks relevant. It is also nice they are concerned about overpowered cards (like Thanos) and are dedicated to fixing them.
If you play the VS 2PCG the Legacy is a great expansion to have. I think you should get it whether you have the other expansions or not. You will definitely maximize your cards use by owning everything but there is something in here for everyone.
