Board game reviews, strategy tips & session reports
First let me give you my definition of party games. A party game accommodates a large number of players and is easy to learn. Secondly, as a caveat I am only listing games I have played. Party games I have not played but have heard good things about are listed in the Honorable Mentions section.
10. Cranium – combines elements from other fun party games and keeps everyone involved
9. Liar’s Dice/Perudo – you lose, you watch, but still fun while you play
8. Balderdash – some of the wacky definitions you get are hilarious
7. Tsuro – fun, quick tile-laying game for up to 8
6. Say Anything – more fun if you know the people you are playing with
5. The Resistance – a lot like Werewolf but no one gets eliminated
4. Incan Gold – press your luck game that is fun for young and old
3. Word on the Street – team word game that is fun, funny and even a bit educational
2. Time’s Up – similar to charades, but funnier
1. Wits & Wagers – trivia anyone can answer combined with betting, and it is easy to play and teach
Honorable mentions:
Apples to Apples, Bang, Dixit, Hoopla, Pit, Rory’s Story Cubes, Taboo
Do you hate my list or honorable mentions? Feel free to discuss in the comments!
Wits and Wagers, Incan Gold, The Resistance and Liar’s Dice are the only ones from your list that I’ve played, and they’re all great and deserving to be there!
I was surprised Dixit wasn’t on the list, until I saw it in the honerable mentions, I assume you haven’t played it? It’s fantastic! (And would be at or near the no. 1 spot for me)
Thanks for the feedback! And you are correct I have not played Dixit, but have heard great things about it.
Have you heard of Nounsense? We played it several times at a family gathering and it was awesome. I think it’s a pretty new game, but we really LOVED it.
No, I have not played it. But thanks for the suggestion.
Great list! Thank you 🙂
