Worlds Collide is the latest expansion for Thunderstone Advance. It adds some of the best cards from the original Thunderstone to the updated Advance system.
Worlds Collide is a stand-alone expansion and does not require Towers of Ruin to play. You get all your basic cards and the same double-sided board.
If you do not know how to play Thunderstone you can read my overview of it and the changes that Thunderstone Advance introduced here. The rest of this post will highlight the additions Worlds Collide brings to this popular deck-building series.
This expansion brings nothing new. Yep you read that correctly. There is nothing new added to Thunderstone in Worlds Collide. All of the cards were formerly released in the original version of the game. Both games have been and still are compatible.
The cards included in this expansion make something old, new. It includes 550 cards previously released in the original Thunderstone base game, expansions or as promos. The cards have been updated to match Advance’s look and iconography. And a few have been updated to balance their abilities better. Some old favorite heroes and monsters are in this set including, the clan and stoneguard dwarves and oozes, giants and dragons.
Worlds Collide is a nice set to own if you do not have these cards from the original sets. If you have only started playing Thunderstone since it became Thunderstone Advance, there are a lot of good cards in this expansion.
The card, art and board quality is equivalent to the other Thunderstone Advance expansions. The rules are well written and include some fun variants.
If you are wondering if you should pick this expansion up it might depend on a couple things. First do you own these cards already? If so do you mind the layout is different between the old sets and new ones? If you don’t already have these cards but have another Thunderstone Advance set these cards add some variety to the game and fit in well when mixed with other sets. If you don’t have any Thunderstone sets then either this set or Towers of Ruin is a good place to start.
