Say Anything Family plays the exact same as the non-family edition. If you are unfamiliar with the original Say Anything, you can read my review here.
The basics are each round someone is the judge and answers a question from the supplied deck of cards. Everyone else must write what they think the judge will answer (or at least like most).
Once all answers are written, the judge secretly selects which answer he likes best. Then each player votes for which answer they think the judge choose with two tokens.
Players get one point for each correct vote, one point if their answer was selected by the judge and the judge gets a point for each token on their selection. You may only score a maximum of 3 points a round.
The difference between the versions is that the questions for the family edition are more tailored for adults and kids. The original Say Anything had a few questions that were not totally appropriate for kids.
Also Say Anything Family only allows six players. The original allowed eight.
It is great to see Northstar Games continue to keep families on their minds. Say Anything Family Edition is a nice addition to their “family line”. (They also have a family version of Wits and Wagers.)
Like I said in my review of the original, this is a blend of Wits and Wagers and Apples to Apples. If you like either of those this would be a great game to get, especially if you have kids. You’ll laugh, learn and just have some good, family fun.
