Rory’s Story Cubes is a creative activity for one or more people. You roll 9 dice and tell a story based on the images that you roll. The Actions expansion adds 9 more dice with images of actions.
Like the box says there are a bunch of different ways you can play Rory’s Story Cubes. You can divide the dice between people or have each player roll them all. The way you play will depend on your group or if you are using this as a ice-breaker or creative exercise.
The Actions expansion comes with 9 more dice that have images of actions on them. Once you add these to the base game the combinations you can roll seem infinite. You still only roll 9 dice, but again you can play this how you like. You can even act out your story instead of telling it.
Rory’s Story Cubes are not really a game but more of an activity. So I will not give out a numeric score after this section like I usually do. Please do not take that fact that Rory’s Story Cubes is more of an activity than a game to mean it is not fun.
I have two young kids and they both enjoy playing this game. It is awesome to see them figuring out how to integrate each die into their story. The “official” age on the box is 8+ but my 4 year old can play this with no problem. My 2 year old even does pretty well.
This game is fantastic for kids and groups that like to tell stories. The Actions expansion adds new and interesting ways to play. If you have kids this game is excellent for building their vocabulary and creative thinking.
