Pink Hijinks is another pyramid game by Looney Labs. The small pink bag contains everything you need to play.
Pink Hijinks begins with three stacks of three pyramids; sized small, medium and large, in the middle row of a 3 x 3 grid square board. On your turn you roll a die and the result will be one or two of the pyramid sizes. You must move one of the pyramids that matches your result one space orthogonally. You may always move into an empty space and may only stack pieces onto ones of the same size or smaller when moving into occupied spaces. Only you may move pyramids that are currently in the row closest to you (called your home row). If you cannot make a legal move you roll the die again until you can make a move.
You win the game if you are able to get three of one size pyramids in your home row. Winning this way requires those three pyramids to be the only pyramids in your home row. You can also win by getting all nine pyramids in your opponent’s home row.
Pink Hijinks is a puzzle game with some luck thrown in. It is an interesting combination, but can lead to frustration. You may get close to winning and just need a specific result on the die, but if it doesn’t come up you give opponent a chance to retaliate.
The components for the game are great. Everything looks nice and neatly fits into the small bag it comes in. The rules are straightforward and the game is super portable.
I have played this with my kids and they like it enough for it to be entertaining but I don’t know if this would hit the table with other gamers or even some non-gamers. The goal is easy to grasp but you are mostly rolling and trying to make the best move based on your. It is just a bit too random for me.
If you have kids this is something they might enjoy and it is very portable.
