Love Letter is now available in two new editions, the Wedding Edition and Legend of the Five Rings Edition.

Love Letter: Legend of the Five Rings and Wedding Editions Descriptions:

If you have never played Love Letter, you can read an overview of the rules and my review of it here. This post will concentrate on the new editions of Love Letter and how they differ from the original.

Let me start by saying the rules don’t differ at all. The new editions are simply re-skins of the original game and all rules and mechanics are the exact same. The big difference is in the art and theme of the game.

The Wedding Edition comes in a white bag enclosed in a white box. The cubes are white and the princess is in a wedding gown. The rest of the characters are dressed the same as they were in the original game. The cards have a slightly different white floral border. This edition is only available through AEG’s online store. In order to purchase it you must scan and email or send them a copy of your wedding invitation.

The Legend of the Five Rings Edition comes in a dark green bag with yellow writing and the back has the L5R rings on it. It has artwork that is totally different from the original game.

Quick Review of Love Letter: Wedding Edition and Legends of the Five Rings Edition:

These are both decent re-skins of Love Letter. The Legend of the Five Rings art is nice and if you enjoy L5R it is probably the edition for you. The Wedding Edition is elegantly presented and looks really nice. If you are getting married these could make nice gifts for your wedding party or centerpieces for tables. It is kind of a bummer you have to be getting married (and show proof) to get the Wedding Edition. As I think these would make nice gifts to give newlyweds.
