Queen’s Jubilee is the first expansion for King’s Forge. It has new craft cards and some new gather cards too.
In the Queen’s Jubilee expansion, you are crafting gifts to celebrate a sovereign ceremony. If you are the first player to craft five items you win the game.
If you have not played King’s Forge read my overview and review here. This post will focus on the new elements introduced in the Queen’s Jubilee expansion.
The new items you can craft replace those from the original game. The difference between the items in this expansion and those in the base game is that these items give you bonuses once crafted. The bonuses include gaining dice or getting pluses on future crafting rolls.
The new gather cards are added to those from the original game. Some of the new cards let you re-roll dice or get more dice, like those in the base game. A few others do unique things like pre-rolling your craft dice, skip storing your dice for the turn or getting each player one wild craft die.
If you are the first player to craft five items you win!
Queen’s Jubilee is a really good expansion for King’s Forge. It adds variety without adding complexity and makes the game quicker.
The components for this expansion are in line with those in the original game. The art looks good and the cards are durable. The rules are on cards instead of in a booklet. I prefer a booklet, but maybe this makes the expansion more portable.
The new items you can craft add more ways to manipulate the dice and create more meaningful choices when deciding which item to craft.
I like that the new items also make the game move faster. The bonuses granted by the items help you build your engine and makes the game quicker.
It can be frustrating when you try to craft but roll poorly. The Gypsy lets you pre-roll your crafting dice which helps cut down on the randomness in this game.
If you like King’s Forge, buy Queen’s Necklace. It improves the game and does not add needless rules.
