Elemental Rage is the second expansion for Hordes: High Command. It adds more warlocks and units to expand your deck-building capabilities.
If you have not played High Command before, I reviewed and gave a basic overview of the rules for the Hordes and WarMachine versions. I will assume you have a general idea of how High Command plays and only talk about the new warlocks and highlight a few units added in the Elemental Rage expansion.
The Circle Orboros faction gets a new warlock, Cassius the Oathkeeper and Wurmwood. He may be rushed using two war, has 2 power and has red or blue detachments. He grants friendly warbeasts at his location +1 power and reduces enemy cards there to 0 power. The Winter Argus is a new warbeast for Circle Oboros it is a 2/2 unit that has a spray weapon. When alone it skips its attack phase but destroys all enemy cards with health equal to or less than its power.
Skorne adds, Master Ascetic Naaresh, a yellow and green colored warlock with 3 power. Like the new Orboros warlock he grants friendly warbeasts at his location +1 power. Also friendly warbeasts at his location cannot be destroyed. The Titan Cannoneer is a 2/6 unit that gains 2 power for each enemy construct or warjack present.
Captain Gunnbjorn is the new warlock for Trollbloods. He has 3 power and has access to yellow and blue detachments. When rushed he adds +1 power to friendly warbeasts at his location and all friendly cards there gain 2 health. The Winter Troll is a 1/4 unit that forces opponents to skip their attack at its location unless they discard a card.
The Legion of Everblight adds the warlock, Bethayne, Voice of Everblight. She has 4 power and like her peers grants friendly warbeasts at her location +1 power. She is free to rush if any opponent has rushed a warcaster or warlock since your last turn. Stinger units are cheap 1/2 units that turn into 0/4 units on other players’ turns.
The new units in Elemental Rage help you customize your Hordes High Command game. Each faction gets five copies of four new units in three colors. The expansions let you build your detachments to fit your play style.
The art and cards are the same high quality as those in the base set. There aren’t really any new rules.
I like how some of these cards mention warjacks. It makes some connections for players that want to play games of High Command with WarMachine and Hordes. This expansion also helps these Hordes players by giving them more cards to choose from just like WarMachine players have.
If you have played and enjoyed Hordes High Command you should pick up the Elemental Rage expansion. It will expand the game and add another layer of deck construction to your game.
