Frag simulates a first-person shooter video game. You run around the map collecting gear and guns while trying to off your opponents.
To begin Frag, you must customize your avatar. You get seven attribute points to distribute between health, speed and accuracy. These represent the number of six-sided dice you roll when attempting actions that correlate to these stats.
Health represents your ability to shrug off damage and is rolled for defense. It also determines how many guns you can carry. Speed determines how far you move on your turn and how far you may jump. Accuracy determines the number of dice you roll to see if you hit an opponent and how many times you may shoot in one turn.
You start Frag with three cards, one of each type: gun, gadget and special. You may play most of these at anytime or when the card text says you may. Guns determine how much damage your attacks do. Gadgets help you damage or avoid damage from other players, boost your stats and more. Specials are very powerful and allow you break the game rules, stop other players from acting and more.
You gain more gadget and gun cards by running over marked spaces on the board. For each symbol you pass over you roll one die. If you roll 4-6 you take the specified card from the draw pile. You only gain specials after killing an opponent.
Each turn you roll your speed in dice. You may then move, attack and play your cards in any order. You can even move attack and then move again.
To attack you roll a number of dice equal to your accuracy stat. You hit if the total is equal to or greater than your opponents distance from you. This distance is determined by counting orthogonally from you.
On a hit you roll your weapon’s damage rating and the target rolls their health. Your total damage roll is then divided by their total health roll. The result is the amount of health the opponent loses. If they reach zero they are killed.
If you kill someone their equipment is placed on the map for others to pick up. They also leave a bloodstain which you can pick up. Bloodstains heal you by one health at anytime. You may only pick up one item from a space on your turn.
If you are killed you respawn randomly on one of the spawn points. You return to your base stats and are instantly ready run and shoot and kill.
Once you have three kills (called frags) you win the game. You may also play more than one game at a sitting. If you win a game you may add one to one of your stats for the next game.
Frag Gold Edition is quick-paced and easy to play and teach. If you have played Quake or Unreal Tournament, you will understand the feel this came is going for.
The components are high quality and look great. The rules are easy to understand but you might have to house rule some grey areas. You can buy this and be playing it within 15 minutes.
I like how you customize your specific guy. It adds to the replay value of this game as you’ll want to try different combinations.
Frag is a firefight and as you might aspect chaos is involved. You will need to maximize your options and get lucky to win. You will also have to overcome getting ganged up on too. Once you have two frags expect others to hinder your efforts to get your third.
This is a pretty light game that is hectic, fast and fun. The only thing that doesn’t fit very well is the resolution of damage. Having to perform long division, while not too challenging, can definitely slow the game down a bit.
If you like first-person shooters, you should try out Frag Gold Edition. If you are looking for a quick-paced, fun game to play with friends, try this game out.

Sounds like my kind of game!
I think it is. We’ll have to try it out sometime!
Frag! is a fun, solid game. It’s got great options in the cards, mayhem and destruction, and a couple of expansions to add.
However, it is quite simplistic, so if you get bored with simplistic fairly easily, you might not want to replay this over and over again.
But, it is a great game to get out, and just roll some dice with buddies.
Frag is one of my favorite board games of all time. I have been playing mine for more then a decade.
Play it for a little while then set up a league so you can develop your characters.
This is one of the best beer and pretzel games ever made.
