For Sale is a light-filler card game about selling and buying real estate. You bid on properties in the first phase and then once all properties are bought you sell them. After all properties have been sold, the game ends and the player with the most money is the winner.
During the first phase of the game properties are auctioned off. The properties are shuffled and each round you deal a number of properties equal to the number of players. Every property has a number on it, the higher the number the more valuable the card. Each player starts with $15,000 and on your turn you have two options. You may raise the bid or pass. If you pass you take the lowest valued property, and pay half of your bid rounded down. If you are the last player to get a property and get the highest valued property, you pay the full bid. If you have won the highest value property this round, you start the bidding in the new round.
Once all properties have been auctioned, it is time to sell your properties. The checks, which range in value from $0-15,000, are shuffled and each round you deal a number of checks equal to the number of players. Take your properties into your hand and now you try to get the most valuable check. Each player chooses a property and places it face-down in front of them. Once all players have done this you flip over your card. The player with the highest valued property gets the highest valued check. This continues in descending order until all players have received a check this round. All properties used this round are discarded and new checks are revealed.
After the checks have all been taken you add up the value of your checks plus the money you have left from the first round. The player with the highest total wins.
For Sale is simple and fun, easy to teach and quick to play. There is a good bit of luck involved since all properties and checks are dealt randomly. Yet there is still some strategy on how you spend your money and what properties you sell for each check. Again this game is a light-filler and is enjoyable every time I play it. That said after a few plays I am ready to move on to something with a bit more meat.
