Board game reviews, strategy tips & session reports
This time we played with four players and used a random Supply from Dominion and the Intrigue expansion. My group played this Supply configuration twice. The first time everyone was figuring out the strategy for the specific cards involved and the second time people usually know how they plan to win.
The Supply consisted of:
Feast, Gardens, Council Room, Library, Militia, Saboteur, Secret Chamber, Scout, Spy, Steward
I have to admit I was a bit unsure of how to approach this Supply combination at first. I really like Gardens and have seen it do really well. I am not a huge fan the Council Room as I feel it helps everyone else. But with the configuration it was the only card that gave extra Buys to help grow my deck for the Gardens. I also am a fan of the Scout and thought it would help me get through the Gardens that might clog up my hand. The first game was ok but it went fast and I only got to 27 cards making my Gardens worth 2 each. Three more cards and I would have won the game.
Scores:
Me – 27
Meredith – 27
Jeff – 26
Jim – 30
The second game I figured I was close to the top so I employed a similar strategy. This time though I got a Militia and even grabbed a Saboteur to mess with everyone. Unfortunately I was not enough. The game was longer and I got a bigger deck (34 cards) but Jeff and Meredith had a better mix of Provinces and Gardens and decks with 30+ cards as well.
Scores:
Me – 34
Meredith – 45
Jeff – 47
Jim – 30
