Board game reviews, strategy tips & session reports
Dominion has been hitting my game table more and more recently. The quick play time and the new Alchemy expansion have helped. This time we tried the suggested deck – Servants.
The Supply consisted of:
Golem, Possession, Scrying Pool, Transmute, Vineyard, Conspirator, Great Hall, Minion, Pawn, Steward
We played four games and I have to say I wasn’t entirely sure of the best actions to buy from this Supply configuration. The first time through I was unfocused and trying to figure things out as I played. I bought a couple Stewards, a Golem and a Pawn. This went ok but was not effective enough for first place.

This time I thought I’d try the Steward/Golem/Pawn combo but be a little more extreme with it. I bought 3 or 4 Stewards to get money, get cards or thin my deck. I bought 2 Golems to bring those up often and I bought a couple Pawns for the extra actions. This time things went much better!

Tried a similar setup, but the result was not the same. This time I did try getting one Possession. It was fun playing Meredith’s hand to gain 9 VPs, but other than that this was not a good game.

I tried to mix things up this time, but made a couple errors. I tried Transmute/Vineyards, but stupidly trashed my Estates with a Steward. Therefore they were not there to trash when I went to use Transmute. I was able to buy 2 Possessions this time. They helped but it was too little to late.
