After dispatching the undead in the prior cavern the party heads into a less natural tunnel. The walls of this hallway are tool cut and the adventurers believe they have found the vault.
The passageway ends at a large set of doors. Their size is impressive. More impressive is the fact they are clad in copper. It is more metal than the party has ever seen in one place.
After listening at the door, and hearing nothing, the party rushes into the room. Upon entering the room they hear a woman wailing at the same time ghostly shadows rise from some of the sarcophagi in the room.
There is a large 10 foot tall stone obelisk in the center in the room and a large dark section in the opposite wall.
Clay charges into the room and the weeping wraith blasts him from across the room. Clay continues and hits one of the shadow warriors near him. Small shadow wisps from near the obelisk attack him and two others block the entryway.
Meldrick attacks the wisps blocking the doorway and kills them both. Otiril takes the opportunity to charge one of the wisps attacking Clay. He hits and it dissipates.
The weeping wraith targets the large half-giant next and hits. Clay kills the last of the wisps and retreats. Aram has summoned his elemental and it attacks one of the warriors slamming it into the wall.
Meldrick takes out his bow and hits the weeping wraith twice. Otiril charges the wraith and knocks her to the ground. The shadows move into position and strike Otiril.
Arannis hits the prone wraith while Clay rams her further across the room. Meldrick switches back to his sword and carrikal and cuts down one of the warriors.
Instantly the wraith shrieks and a burst of psychic energy hits Otiril and Meldrick. Otriril falls unconscious. The remaining shadow warrior stabs Clay as Arannis rushes over to heal Otiril.
The wraith stands and attacks Clay while the party concentrates their attacks on her. They batter the wraith until she finally succumbs to her wounds.
Alone the last shadow warrior fights to the death. It is a death that comes quickly at the hands of Otiril.
DM Notes:
Good fight and a good night. The PCs handled this well. The obelisk had a chance to spawn more wisps if the PCs were adjacent it. Unfortunately only Meldrick got close and it didn’t trigger.
