Board game reviews, strategy tips & session reports
At the end of the last Dark Sun session the adventurers lost a member of the party. Ittik the thri-kreen monk was killed by a couple silt runners. Unfortunately there is not much time for mourning as they must find out what happened to the missing wagon and its drivers.
They pick up the intermittent trail of the wagon and follow it through the hot dry desert. After about another half hour of walking they see the outline of what appears to be the wagon on the horizon.
The party gets closer and sees it is the wagon, half buried in the sand. It sits near a jumble of rocks but no crew or draft animals are to be found. Broken pieces of the wagon are strewn about and five creatures with chitinous shells and spiked claws skitter across the sand. They chitter to one another as they examine the wagon wreckage.
The adventurers try to get the drop on the creatures, but are not quite quiet enough. As the party approaches the creatures turn to face them.
Otiril charges the biggest one but misses. He also notices standing next to its spiky shell that he is being cut. He yells that the party should keep their distance and shifts backward.
A medium-size creature sinks its claw into Meldrick. Three small creatures dash from behind the wagon attacking but missing Otiril. Kitano hits the one that is near Meldrcik as Arannis moves into a better position.
Otiril swings at the swarm of small creatures hitting and killing one of them. Meldrick retaliates and hits the creature with his sword and carrikal then steps back. Unlucky Arannis just misses with an attack on the large one.
Otiril continues to slash at the large creature sinking his ask into its side. Kitano helps Otiril by teleporting the remaining two small creatures away from him. The shock is more than their small bodies can bear and they die.
Meldrick finishes off the one attacking him, just as Otiril lays a devastating blow on the large one. The party breathes a sigh of relief as the scavenging creatures are vanquished.
DM Notes:
Since the group was down a party member I reduced the number of kruthiks by one. This fight went much better for them than the last one.
